Baayork Lee
Baayork has performed in a dozen Broadway shows and created the role of Connie in A Chorus Line. As Michael Bennett’s assistant choreographer on A Chorus Line, she has directed many national and international companies. Directing credits: The King and I and Bombay Dreams (national tours), R&H’s Cinderella (NYC Opera), Barnum (Australia), Carmen Jones (Kennedy Center), Porgy and Bess and Jesus Christ Superstar (European tours), Gypsy and A New Brain. Choreography credits: Mack and Mabel (Shaw Festival), Arena Stage (Washington, DC): Cocoanuts, Camelot, Damn Yankees, Helen Hayes nomination for Animal Crackers and South Pacific; Washington Opera; Kennedy Center: Goya, Sly and The Merry Widow. Co-author of "On the Line: The Creation of A Chorus Line" and recipient of 2003 Asian Woman Warrior Award for Lifetime Achievement from Columbia College.

Steven’s acting career has taken him all over the U.S. as well as Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Cambodia, and London’s West End. As a professional actor, he has played leading roles in classic plays to contemporary musicals, from Shakespeare to Sondheim. Notable productions include: Pacific Overtures (IRNE nomination Best Actor), Miss Saigon, Richard II, As You Like It, The Taming of the Shrew, Porcelain. In New York and regionally, he has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Ensemble Studio Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Huntington Theater, Barrington Stage, Paper Mill Playhouse, Alliance Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse, North Shore Music Theatre, Prospect Theater, Pan Asian Rep, Dallas Theater Center, Shakespeare Festivals (Dallas & Fort Worth), Theatre Under the Stars, as well as touring houses throughout the country. A proponent of new work, Steven has also done many readings and sung on numerous demo recordings. He also greatly enjoys teaching workshops and coaching actors. Steven holds an MFA in Classical Acting from the Academy for Classical Acting (George Washington University/Shakespeare Theatre Company) and a BFA in Theatre from Southern Methodist University.

Choreography credits include Burlesque To Broadway (National Tour); They Walk Among Us (Director / Choreographer, New York’s Midtown International Theatre Festival 2008 – winner Outstanding Choreography); Sherlock Holmes – The Early Years (New York Musical Theatre Festival 2007); regional productions of The King and I, It’s A Wonderful Life. Assistant Choreographer for Tisch School of the Arts production of TOMMY, (Director, Kent Gash). Assistant Director World AIDS Day Gala, Capetown, South Africa; Assistant Director / Female Swing for European Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, both directed by Baayork Lee; Resident Director / Dance Captain for European Tour of West Side Story. Merete co-produced “The Broadway Series at Springside Inn” in Auburn, New York. The series included Donna McKechnie’s one woman show My Musical Comedy Life, Keith Thompson’s Kooky Tunes, and Julie Budd’s Showstoppers – The Great American Musicals! Merete is co-Artistic Director of Jazz Choreography Enterprises, Inc., based in New York City.
